A small print sits on my desk from one of my favorite artists, Britchida.
It’s simple and cute and surprisingly meaningful.
The message: Wiggle your toes.
I often spot it during a call or while I’m deep in writing.
And it never fails to land.
It’s also an invitation I sometimes give to my coaching clients.
A gentle way to drop into the body. To come back to presence.
Even my favorite sleep meditation includes a toe wiggle partway through.
So… why is this so meaningful?
Because your body lives in the now.
Your thoughts might be spiraling into next week.
Your emotions might be reverberating with something that happened years ago.
But your toes?
They’re right here.
Wiggling them reminds your system:
I have a body. I’m alive. I’m in the present.
And there’s something especially regulating about bringing awareness to your endpoints—your toes, fingers, crown, tailbone.
They help your body remember its edges.
They’re often where stuck energy begins to move.
And they tend to feel less emotionally charged than the heart or belly—making them a safe place to come home to yourself.
It’s a small, silly-seeming move that can create a profound shift.
Especially when you’re stuck in your head—which most people are, most of the time.
It won’t solve everything. It might not even solve anything.
But it can bring you back, just enough, to breathe deeper.
To meet this moment from your body, not just your mind.
Try it now.
Wiggle your toes.
Notice what happens.
Guess what? That’s presence.
Which is the doorway to pretty much everything that truly matters.
And it starts with something as simple as remembering your toes.
Wigglingly yours,
Rachel
